Remember when you were learning about dental care in 1st grade? And your teacher gave out red chewable tablets that turned your teeth red until you brushed it all off? The idea has changed a little (because we all grow up right?) from red teeth to Bluetooth. Now this is a lot more fun, here's the low down.

You know how you see people walking around with these little electronics sticking out of their ears? Not sure if they are crazy? They could be on their cell phone using a Bluetooth device. Now imaging not wanting that thing in your ear, easy enough. Toyotas with Bluetooth allow you to step into your car and it will automatically recognize your phone, so that when it rings you can answer and talk without picking up your phone. Way more convenient and much safer. Come in to see it, or watch it in Our Videos page.

Remember Dee Snyder, the long curly-haired makeup-wearing lead singer of Twisted Sister? His anthem stated "we're not gonna take it anymore". I think he may have been secretely predicting high gas prices 20 years later. Luckily for Dee and the rest of us Toyota has the most fuel efficient cars in the world. The 2010 Prius puts out over 60MPG. The Yaris 38MPG. Corolla 36MPG. Gas prices will sometimes fall. But know that the trend is to continually rise higher and higher. Make a smart investment in a new Toyota, and if you see Dee Snyder around, tell him he was right!

Big Island Toyota spent May raising funds and awareness for United Way Big Island. Our sales department contributed $100 from every car sold. Our service department contributed $1 from every service visit. And employees participated in a silent auction bake sale that raised over $800. And let me tell you that last one added a few pounds to this employee! United Way is a silent giant that provides resources and financial support to so many Big Island agencies. It touches each of us. Times are tough, but you can still make a difference, call United Way and ask what you can do.

Certified. Sounds like something official, certified, guaranteed, assured, etc, but what does it mean exactly? At Big Island Toyota we've implemented a comprehensive vehicle certification program for all pre-owned vehicles. Okay...can you be more specific? All used Toyota, Scion and Suzuki cars 2006 and newer receive a 159 point inspection to certify vehicle body, trim, interior, all mechanical components and a detail. Road Ready. No Worries. All other brands (except Ferrari etc) 2002 and newer receive a 70 point inspection to certify vehicle body, trim, interior, mechanical components and a detail. Older vehicles will be safety inspected and sold as-is.

Summary: When you purchase a Certified vehicle from Big Island Toyota, you can rest assured we have turned every stone and share our confidence that your vehicles is road ready for your famly's transportation needs. Enjoy!

Last year if you asked me about Twitter or Social Networking, I would've blankly stared at you and slowly walked away. Now, it's part of my daily routine, and almost a full time job! For those of you who already know what I am talking about..stop reading. This is for the new-bies like me. So it's like this:

We have traded our childrens days of play for orchestrated play dates with start and stop times. We have traded writing grandma a letter for a quick (and mis-spelled) e-mail with a photo attachment. We have traded Sunday dinner for a mocha-cino at Starbucks. And we have traded a weekend get together with friends for FaceBook. Good? Bad? Undecided? (My mother is not a top notch cook, so losing Sunday dinner is better for me!). Now come Twitter...

Twitter is a web log (blog) that asks "what are you doing right now?" And you being very important tell it what you are doing right now. Easy right? So where does this fit in to our ultra-busy yuppie lifestyles? I can corral a group of friends and we can each write and share little snippets, which helps maintain a little commradery and provide some fun too. So what does Big Island Toyota do with Twitter? Simple, we share little bits of info happening around the dealership that just might interest you. Example: Our service department shares ways to save money, improve performance and better maintain your car..not too bad...you might like to know those things. Our sales department shares interest rate specials, weekend events and cars under $10,000.  You might like to know about some of these things too!

So check out twitter.com and look for bitservice or toyotahawaii and you too can become twitterific!
